Örjan Andersson & Andersson Dance

Andersson Dance is an ever-changing constellation of artists in the field of dance collaborating with choreographer Örjan Andersson. Based in Stockholm, Sweden Andersson Dance collaborates with venues and organizers nationally and internationally and invite artists from all over the world to collaborate in new and older creations.

The project-based company is funded by the Swedish Arts Council 2012 - 2014 and the Cultural Capital of Stockholm. The repertoire consists of smaller and larger pieces, purposely created to fit different venues and contexts.

Andersson Dance is analogous to Örjan Andersson's artistry and a language of movements derived from vastly different experiences of creating choreographic works. This language and his fascination with space and the part we as humans take hold of it for a limited time has been and still is in focus. Whatever the context, this side of the choreographer has been the common denominator - the movement in space and time.

At the same time Örjan Andersson founded Andersson Dance and was able to work in parallel with a small group of freelance colleagues. This group is dedicated Andersson's language and experimented with it in widely different contexts such as dance, theatre, film, public space and more educational locations such dramatic Institutes and various schools and in public lectures on the public on ideas about choreography.

The approach to these different contexts has colored the aesthetics of Örjan Andersson and has shaped his direct manner and language in time and space. With curiosity Andersson Dance leaps from larger works at various venues to small-scale experiments.

The fascination with the craft at hand, the dancing body and the challenged mind, pushes artistic director Örjan Andersson. This is what characterizes Andersson Dance. This pure fascination with dance and magical communication between people, its ephemeral moments experienced at various venues and in the studio during the work, all the time in various theatrical and non theatrical forms - magical moments experienced by the viewer and the practitioner, moments that are unique and never return.

Today, Andersson Dance invites new and already established artists to work continually with the artistic collaborations. Influential works from Örjan Andersson - which includes over 20 original works and projects since the start in 1996 - is "Redundance" from the same year, "Worms Quintet" from 2004, "Ready to Explode" from 2006, retrospective of work to the music of Shostakovichs entitled "Triptych" 2007, " Pile it on "from 2009 and" Solo for Asher Lev" from 2010. Among the works created for other ensembles” Red," originally created for Netherlands Dance Theatre, "White Russian" for the Göteborg Ballet in 2004, "Arches of Frost" for Compania National de Danza 2005 and "Seven Clues" for Skånes Dansteater to original music by Sven David Sandström 2011 can be mentioned.
